NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION – FALL 2012

New Student Orientation Sessions for all first-time new students attending Philander Smith College will be held during the summer. Each session is a two-day session and participants must attend both days.  All first-time freshman, transfers and non-traditional students who are admitted to the college are required to attend.

Students MUST have been accepted to Philander Smith College to participate in New Student Orientation Sessions.

Students MUST have final official transcripts and shot records submitted to the Office of Recruitment & Admissions by August 1, 2012 or they may not be able to attend class. Financial Aid should also be completed.

The schedule for 2012 New Student Orientation is as follows:

  • Session 1: June 29 & 30
  • Session 2: July 13 & 14
  • Session 3: July 20 & 21
  • Session 4: July 27 & 28**

**Priority will be given for our transfer and non-traditional student population.

Please do not plan to attend unless you have registered for one of these sessions. In addition, we will not be able to accommodate students needing to leave early, arrive late or those who cannot attend the entire program. These sessions will give students the opportunity to meet administration, faculty, staff and other freshmen. Other opportunities include taking care of business with Financial Aid and Business Office and registering for fall classes.

Accommodations for students and up to two parents will be available on campus during orientation sessions. The fee will be $50 per person and includes a continental breakfast and two lunches. You will need to bring bed linens for extra long, twin-sized beds, towels and toiletries.

To register for one of the sessions, please click on Orientation/Visit tab in the left yellow box on the Home page or under Menu on the right side of the Admissions page and complete the form at the bottom of the page.
